Love is the Way

If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you. (John 14:15-17)

Jesus continued to work on behalf of all who came to him for help. His mind was turned toward God in supplication and his appeal to God was in the form of awareness, that those who would commit to the work of transformation would know that whatever was necessary or needed would be provided. Jesus links the keeping of commandments with love because it is love that leads to the fulfillment of all universal laws. In proceeding first with love, one is aligned with the structure of the universe. Without love any attempt to hold the same structure will fail because the building blocks of the universe are made from love; all authority will fail and all wisdom without love will dry up and disappear. Without love, water loses the spiritual properties of wholeness and life. All needs to be understood within the context of love, and when we understand this, then the words of Jesus in this text reveal again that Jesus came to bear witness to the truth. Human beings are never alone. Human beings hold within themselves the presence of God, the spirit of God, and in this realization they can embody God, the source of all strength, all love, all truth, all wholeness and all grace. Jesus knows in these moments that he has given everything he can give to his disciples in the way of instruction and teaching. He is saying to them that they have heard and they have seen. After the final teaching, there is only the journey to the cross for Jesus and the final acts necessary for the fulfillment of his purpose. Those moments will complete the perfection of his body and his consciousness and will lead him into the highest form of awareness. We get a glimpse of this awareness from this side of the veil, but we must make the journey ourselves to go beyond the horizon set before us.
