For the word of the Lord is upright,
and all his work is done in faithfulness.
He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. (Psalm 33:4-5)
Love is the fabric of the universe. God is love and God created us out of God’s own being. Therefore, at the essence of our being is love. Love is the energy that forms the attractions that put all material and spiritual entities into relationship. Love holds electrons in orbit around the nucleus of an atom and planets in orbit around the sun. Love in some form is at the intersection of every encounter. Love exists in a mutual relationship with the consciousness of God. Our ability to observe, to approach, to embrace, to serve, to help, to inspire, to give honor and respect—everything comes from divine love and represents an opportunity to grow and evolve toward God. Without love the universe does not exist.
Through love you call us into relationship with your being, God. Love calls us into relationship with all of humankind. Love surrounds us and is constant in its benevolence. We cannot escape from your love, yet your love leaves us free to turn in any direction. May our thoughts, our intentions, our motivation, our words, and our actions reflect your love. Amen.
From The Readings
2012-111 Your full being, the physical body, the super-sensitive body, longs for the acceptance and the surrender that accompany love. This is why when you feel low, you are comforted in the presence of love. This is why when you are anxious, you can become calm in the presence of love. This is why when you find your purpose, you identify with love and you are absorbed into the presence of love and acceptance. This is why I have told you to not be afraid. This is why I have told you that even though I suffer or you may suffer, to not despair. This is why I have said to you that you are blessed if you are persecuted, that you are blessed if you are meek, and you are blessed if through travail and heavy burdens. Your heart has been purified. Because all of these things are indications of the presence of God.
