Consciousness

Anger, Fear, Attachment

Anger, Fear, Attachment

The ego can use the knowledge that the abundance of God is available to everyone at any time and place, and yet mislead the individual with regard to the balance, the values, and the understanding of the order that is the essence of the universe. When these things come into conflict, it is frustrating and anger can erupt. But understand that the eruptions and the anger also signals that the answer is close at hand; that the transformation is coming, because the anger will run into its own creation, its own fear, and it helps identify the obstacle to one’s inner peace.

The Principal Cause of Ignorance

The Principal Cause of Ignorance

So we wish to speak about the principal cause of ignorance. When there is a system like the human being, one or more parts of the system can appear to rule, and might actually rule the whole system. This is easy to see with things like emotions, where the emotion can become so intense that it overrules thought or intuition or even the ability to sense something in the surroundings like smell or taste or touch. But the intellect can also rule all of the systems.

Quiet and Solitude

Quiet and Solitude

When Jesus meets the woman at the well and he says to her that he can give her living water, he is really speaking of giving her or helping her experience greater awareness of the consciousness that exists of God. His own being, fully saturated with Christ-consciousness is the gift. So when he says that he is the gift, we must understand that we are being given the gift of consciousness.

Evolution and Liberation

Evolution and Liberation

For a long time human beings were subject to the conditions of their birth, but now because of the advanced nature of consciousness in the material realm, there are those souls who enter the earth with an intuitive understanding that there are few limitations, even in the material realm, such that they may choose a birth of circumstance, choose a childhood circumstance, choose a different adult situation, in which their karma unfolds and is burned away. This is why at this day and time, as consciousness is raised, women and men see fewer gender limitations to their role, to their behavior, and to their life circumstances.

Relating to Others with Love and Devotion

Relating to Others with Love and Devotion

In order for him to unlock this compassion and kindness, he needs to see his ability to listen, his ability to be present, his sense of wonder and devotion directed toward other people in the same way that he directs it toward God or toward those with whom he has affinity. Other human beings, when they are given this kind of compassion and kindness, frequently cannot hold the gaze of a person who reaches out to them or wishes to hold them with this kind of compassion.

Letting Go

Letting Go

2016-097 The state of the mind, whatever the mind focuses on, all of these things are controllable by you in the moment. Now some would say that you only have the ability to react to what is present, so that if it is too hot, you can say, “I can decide how to respond to the heat.” But there is a part of you that you experience as being within you that goes beyond the ability to simply respond to the heat.

Spiral Upward

Spiral Upward

2016-001 Each step of the way on the journey through life, especially a life where there is an expansion of consciousness and awareness, there are those places where we stop and look back, and what we see has changed. Our initial experience is affected by a state of awareness present at that time, and then we look back with new awareness we see more.

Meditations on Hanukkah and Christmas

Meditations on Hanukkah and Christmas

Hanukkah is a celebration that commemorates the victory that restored the Temple in Jerusalem to the Hebrew people about 150 years before the time of Jesus. Part of the story is the miracle of the oil used to keep the flame representing God's presence burning in the Temple. The story resonates with me even though I travel on my spiritual journey in a different tradition.

Difficulty of the Spiritual Path

2014-84 It is so easy to fall in love with the idea that the advanced soul knows its way in the world, always knows what to do, always accomplishes or achieves what appears to be good or pleasurable in the world, and this is so far from the truth. This is why the difficulty of the spiritual path is so important. Once the consciousness of the soul becomes one with God, the initial feeling, the initial sensation, even the first thoughts are that the person is alone, that there is no one like you, that there's no one that likes you, or that there is no one that understands you. And in some ways there is some truth in this, but this is part of the feeling and the perception that is left over from the transition from one form of consciousness to the other; it’s like the soul has been emptied so that all goodness and truth can come in. This goodness and truth is not confined in a material sense in the location of the body or the location of the physical being. There needs to be time for the new consciousness to grow and expand into this new space in the being, and this is where the understanding of what is infinite and eternal becomes important, because there is at the same time a going in, an expansiveness that feels like going out. At the same time that there is the perception of looking down and having a very high perspective, there is also a sensation of looking up and seeing everything as if it is greater and more expansive than the small human being that sits on a little piece of earth in the universe. The physical relationships that one sees and the magnitude of the physical dimension mirrors the inner spiritual condition of the being, so that you can be sure that this parallel universe always exists, whether you are aware that this exists or not. But we are saying to you right now that the feeling of being alone, the feeling just beyond the transition point of beginning to merge with God, this is where that consciousness begins. This is where the expansion begins. This is where the larger perspective begins. And this is the place that feels very intimate, so much so that the Muslim mystics use the phrase "alone with the alone," because one that is in this state of consciousness is bearing witness to the rest of all creation, of all eternity.

Where The Readings Come From

2014-015 The readings come from several places, and these are combined within Jeffrey. First, there is the material truth of the world. And just as the scientists, through knowledge of material things can see patterns, these patterns become evident in a material sense to Jeffrey at a higher consciousness level. Then there are also patterns of behavior and circumstance, situations in the potential that exist for each person. These shall be seen and understood primarily as opportunity: opportunity for growth, opportunity for spiritual knowledge and wisdom. We have the material—the patterns, the opportunity for wisdom—and then we have the patterns that are the result of past actions: the records of all events and people of all time, and the consciousness and energy that make up a record that others have called, “Akashic Records” or “Eternal Records,” or “The Great Book of Life.” These things are not stored in a written form; they are part of the fabric of the universe: the things that bind it together, the collection of energy and consciousness. And it is from these realms of energy and consciousness—you might describe it as an opening in the person through which everything connected by energy and consciousness to what is being channeled falls—it falls into the opening in a metaphorical sense. And it is there that it is assembled in consciousness. Sometimes it is assembled as sights or sound or words. At times it collects or assembles as a feeling. When these events occur in the channel coming into consciousness, there is no preceding thought or word, yet the word is formed on Jeffrey’s lips. But the place from which all of this comes is the very consciousness of all things, of all beings, and God. But do not confuse this with God. This is information about, knowledge about, but it is not God. A good way to think of this is that you can have knowledge about something. You might know that a flower is red or yellow, but that knowledge is not the flower. Yet the knowledge about the flower comes through the senses: the eyes, the nose, it can come through the sense of touch. The readings come in a similar way, but in a non-ordinary, or non-sensory way.

Prayer

Prayer in its simplest terms is speaking to God. That short sentence presumes so much spiritual knowledge! Prayer is also a conscious effort of will to align one’s awareness with the consciousness of God.  Your own understanding of how you engage God, or interact with God, is one of the key starting points on your journey to Oneness. How does one speak to someone or something that is beyond understanding? We begin with small steps that work in the same ways that work with human interactions. You start, you stumble, you get the first words out, and then you keep going. You will find yourself asking for help and asking for help for others and from others; you will express rage and anger at the unexplainable and tragic parts of life; you will praise God and deny God. Over time and  through  effort, you will realize that prayer brings you mindfully into the present and connects with a very authentic part of your being. Prayer will become an important tool of self-discovery, especially in those moments when you are trying to find that most authentic part of yourself, a part intimately connected to God, the source of Life, a part of you that can speak the truth to you about yourself.
